Improve both safety and quality while reducing labor

About the job

Problems
A company making a variety of small-batch products uses a large-scale drawing process, which requires putting huge steel sheets (1.35 x 2.4 meters and weighing 60 kg each) into the press. Two operators were dragging the sheets from a cart into the press, but this method was not only hard on the workers, it was also unsafe and problematic in terms of quality. A hoist crane could not be used, since these huge sheets had to be inserted into a small 48-cm gap in the die.
Solutions
We set up a Raku-Raku Hand that had a leveling arm with a suction end effector.
The company is delighted with the result, reporting that efficiency and safety have greatly improved and that one person can now easily do the work.
